Open Bund Tanks For Chemical Dosing Systems

Written by enduramaxx.marketing | May 10, 2021 11:00:00 PM

Open Bund Tanks for Chemical Dosing Systems are used for storage of dosing and treatment chemicals to comply with HSE requirements for the secondary containment. Secondary containment bunds contain a minimum of 110% of the volume of the corresponding chemical tank providing a containment area in case a tank, pump or an associated fitting fail –more details on the HSE’s advice is available here.

Due to the nature of the chemicals being stored, the chemical dosing tank, fittings, flanges and associate chemical dosing equipment need to be checked with compatibility against the chemical. Examples of chemicals that are stored in chemical storage tanks are for wastewater and swimming pool dosing include; sulphuric acid, hydrochloric acid, sodium hypochloritesodium hydroxide, ammonia solution, ferric sulphate and chloride, aluminium sulphate and polymers.

Other chemicals are used as neutralizing acids or bases are sodium hydroxide and sulfuric acid. To raise the ph. of wastewater prior to treatment include sodium carbonate (soda ash), ammonium hydroxide, calcium hydroxide (lime) or magnesium hydroxide.

Typical Specs for Dosing Chemical Tanks

The bunded chemical storage tank bunds contain a minimum 110% volume of the inner tank with the integral bund. Open bunds are often used for inside installations for the single skin tank or closed bunds with a rain skirt which can be used outside.

Tank Specifications

  • Mixer/pump mount
