Sludge tanks for food & drink wastewater treatment, the characteristics and volume of wastewater discharged from food and drink processing factories vary with the products and production procedures for each factory. In drink manufacturing, much of the wastewater comes from washing bottles, cleaning equipment, containers, and the water used in the process can be up to 10 times the product which is produced.
All this wastewater needs to be processed and treated. In the beer brewing process, malts, corn-starch and hops are fed as raw materials into the manufacturing process. The quality and volume of wastewater vary from each part of the brewing process, however, a large volume of wastewater containing high BOD needs treating.
BOD is a measure of the amount of oxygen required to remove waste organic matter from water in the process of decomposition by aerobic bacteria (those bacteria that live only in an environment containing oxygen). The waste organic matter is stabilized or made unobjectionable through its decomposition by living bacterial organisms which need oxygen to do their work. BOD is used, often in wastewater-treatment plants, as an index of the degree of organic pollution in water. – Source – USGS
Throughout the process, from the installation holding tanks, through to the preliminary treatment of wastewater in which separation of solids and large particles, coagulation-flocculation, and sedimentation in which the colloidal particles in the wastewater are grouped into larger particles called flocs, storage tanks and mixer tanks are required for the wastewater and the chemical used to treat it.
Tanks we manufacture for use in conjunction with these processes include;
Conical sludge tanks are used in the food and drink wastewater treatment industry, for various applications including sludge thickening, treatment & dewatering. By reducing the amount of water in wastewater treatment can result in reductions of waste by up to 80% depending on its solids content as a typical DAF plant sludge will be approximately 5-10% solid-or 90-95% water equating to 19 tonnes of water and 1 tonne of solids from a 20-tonne load of sludge providing huge protection for cost savings of disposal.
