Tanks for pH Correction & Chemical Dosing used for a variety of uses in water treatment for chemical dosing, polymer make-up units and bulk storage of the chemical.
pH Correction is the treatment of acidic or alkaline wastewater to naturalise for treatment and disposal. pH is a measure of the degree of acidity of the water and measured on a scale of 0-14 pH units, with low numbers being acidic, 7 being neutral and higher values being classed as alkaline. Most water is a few units on either side of neutral, with the regulatory standard for pH in drinking water, within 6.5 and 9.5. The most common chemicals used for neutralizing acids or bases are sodium hydroxide (50%) and sulfuric acid (98%). To raise the pH of an acidic liquid, sodium carbonate, ammonium hydroxide, calcium hydroxide (lime) or magnesium hydroxide can also be used.
Polymers are used in wastewater treatment to flocculate suspended solids and produce floc; this grouping of solids together allows removal and easier treatment of the wastewater and an effective polymer mix can increase the effectiveness of dosed polymer and lead to reduced chemical usage.
Chemical dosing is also an important part of ph correction as chemical dosing systems allow the dosing of correct acids or chemicals to adjust the of the water often through a dosing pump and other chemical dosing equipment. Our new chemical dosing tank range is designed for use in process water treatment, water treatment, wastewater treatment swimming pool chemical storage applications. This chemically resistant PE (Polyethylene) or PP (Polypropylene) tanks are made from WRAS approved and food-grade material in black, natural, and blue. Each of the sizes is available with a secondary containment bund which contains 110% of the volume of the corresponding chemical tan providing a containment area in case a tank, pump or associated fitting should fail – The HSE’s advice is available here.
The pH of wastewater has a direct influence on its treatability either as physical, chemical, or biological so that effective treatment can occur. ph controllers are mounted on the top of treatment tanks to record this level when entering and leaving the tank. These systems require ph correction tanks which are designed to raise or lower the pH of wastewater before the treatment process.
Our chemical storage and treatment tanks are available as a round single wall or bunded tanks up to 30,000 litres, rectangular tanks with open bunds for secondary containment. All tanks are uv stabilised, ph adjustment chemicals and water treatment system chemicals such as sodium hypochlorite.
