Amongst the growers reporting 2015 to be a record apple harvest are the monks of Ampleforth Abbey whose orchards in the North of England are still harvested by hand. The orchard comprises some 2,000 trees that span over 40 varieties of apple, with some being ready for harvest at different times of the year. Therefore, the yield will span over several months.
According to official figures from The Guardian, £911m worth of cider, perry and mead produced by UK manufacturers was sold last year, up from £812m the year before. Research by Mintel indicates that 2015 is set to be even better for the industry as alternative fruit ciders gain popularity, claiming around 15% of the entire market. In keeping with trends, the UK’s largest independent cider maker, Aston Manor Cider is currently planting 1,000 acres of orchards across Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire containing 450,000 new trees and other cider makers have similar pans too!
Helping cider makers or all sizes across the country, Enduramaxx provides a number of storage and processing tanks imperative for cider production and storage. Enduramaxx cone bottom tanks enable cider makers to remove the sediments from their beverages, thanks to the conical bottoms where the impurities sink to the bottom to be drained away. Secondly, Enduramaxx provides WRAS-approved plastic water tanks. Made from food-grade, UV-stabilised polyethylene, they will store large volumes of cider whilst it’s awaiting bottling and shipment.
Whether you are considering starting out as a small cider producer, or whether you are expanding or upgrading your existing operations, there’s an Enduramaxx tank for you! To speak to a member of our team, click here now!
