Space Restrictive Water Storage: An Easy Solution

In today’s modern environment with domestic and small business properties frequently undergoing a change of use or refurbishment, there is often a requirement for the installation of a water tank or tanks to be used as header tanks, drinking water storage tanks or feeder tanks for fire sprinkler systems.

Within a commercial environment, the most suitable area for these tanks to be located is often within an above-ground floor plant room. This often causes problems with regards to the tank installation where larger capacity tanks can only be installed externally to the building or after the partial removal of an exterior wall.

Domestically within the UK, the most common width of internal doors is 762 mm (2’6”). Doors fitted to commercial premises may be wider than this, but in any event, it would be unusual for most moulded one-piece vertical storage tanks above a capacity of 720 litres to fit through an internal single-leaf door.

Enduratank provides the answer to this problem with their Slimline Water Tanks which are designed for space restrictive water storage and are WRAS approved, being suitable for drinking water in addition to non-potable water.

Slimline tanks fitted with weir

In England and Wales the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999 and the technically identical Scottish Water Byelaws stipulate that any water tank which is connected to mains water must be fitted with a weir (Category 5) or turret to prevent backflow into the mains water system.  The Enduratank Slimline Water Tank is available with a built-in weir or can be supplied with a Category 5 turret.

The Slimline Water Tank is available in a 500 litre or 1,000 litre capacity with the larger tank being only 670 mm in width which easily fits through a standard domestic internal door. Frequently tanks may be located in areas with a high or low ambient temperature so both Slimline Water Tanks are also available with a factory-fitted insulated jacket which will not only protects against frost but conversely prevents the water temperature from rising thus reducing the risk of Legionella bacteria.

In addition to the 500 litre and 1,000 litre Slimline Water Tank, Enduratank’s 150 litre, 300 litre, 500 litre and 720 litre Vertical Water Tanks are of a diameter that will allow them to fit through a standard size single leaf internal domestic door.
